This course will provide the mandatory training required by New Jersey to obtain a permit to carry a handgun in that state. New Jersey residents will need a valid NJ driver’s license, Non-Residents will need a valid state driver’s license of said state. You can NOT use a rental or borrowed firearm.
Course Overview:
- Firearms safety and storage rules
- Firearm types, parts, and functions
- Confrontation avoidance and Situational awareness
- Reasonable belief and basic theory of justification
- N.J.S.A 2C:3-4, Use of Deadly Force
- Skills for safe use of your firearm for personal protection
- Holster draw training
- Live fire range session 50 rounds, 80% score
What to Bring:
- Handgun for Qualification
- Valid ID
- NJ Firearms Identification Card (You must be 21 to apply for a CCW)
- Minimum of 50 rounds of ammo
- Hearing and Eye Protection
- Strong side holster (no shoulder, collapsable, belly band or pocket holsters)
- Belt
Our trainers shall not approve a permit unless the applicant demonstrates “that he/she is thoroughly familiar with safe handling and use of handguns” in accordance with N.J.A.C 13:54-2.4(b). Attendees must score an 80% pass or fail.
